The Weirdness of PA’s Route 30 (Now with BONUS Intercourse)

There’s a time and a place for political correctness and then there are situations where you simply have  to call things like they are and Route 30, (or at least the portion spanning Chester, Lancaster and York counties) is weird as all get out. There’s actually a lot of weirdness going on in rural, central Pennsylvania. This

Lancaster Restaurant Week and Ramblings About Being the Worst “Foodie” Ever

For the longest time I’d always seen pictures of various “Restaurant Weeks” popping up all over Facebook, but never quite understood the concept of such a thing. “Why do people need an excuse to go to restaurants?” I wondered.  I eat out whenever I’m too lazy to cook which happens way more than I budget

New Year’s Resolutions 2014 Part 1

So, 2014 has officially been upon us for coming up two weeks now, which means that its time for my list of travel/weekend fun resolutions for this upcoming year. Every year I wish I could publish this on New Year’s Day but it always takes me until almost mid-January to get it out.  I wish I

Tellus 360: Lancaster’s “New” Gathering Spot

Downtown Lancaster is a lovely place to walk around (sidenote: when did I start using the word “lovely” to describe things?). There’s Central Market, plenty of shops and restaurants and  enough bars to some damage. If you’re wandering down East King street, just past the Marriott, you’ll encounter Tellus 360, a sprawling storefront complex that

The Saga of Duffy’s Cut & Tellus 360

If you’re driving along King Road near Malvern PA, a small town approximately 30 miles west of Philadelphia in the heart of Pennsylvania’s mainline, you’ll come across an innocuous historical marker at where King intersects Sugartown Road.  The marker tells the tale of Duffy’s Cut Mass grave, a black mark in Pennsylvania’s history that occurred 181 years ago.

10 Cheap and Easy Things to do in Lancaster

I’m continuing on with the “10 Cheap & Easy Things to Do in _______” theme with my current home locale of Lancaster.  If you haven’t read the posts on Philly, Scranton or Pittsburgh the basic philosophy behind this is that sometimes you end up at a certain locale to visit friends, or maybe attend a wedding

Lancaster Bar Crawl

One of my New Year’s resolutions, as well as one of my promises after my 100th post was that I needed to start writing more about Lancaster, since that’s where I’ve been living for the past (almost) four years.  One common misconception is that Lancaster is simply a rural county best known for the Amish. While

“Taste the World”: a Lancaster Food Tour

I’m not a “foodie” by any means (unless your talking about Tom Haverford’s definition of a foodie which consists of Instagramming what you eat…in that case I most certainly am).  I’m terribly picky and have all sorts of strange hang-ups; I generally don’t eat hot vegetables, anything pureed grosses me out, I’ve traditionally been very wary of ethnic

100 Things to do in Pennsylvania

100 Things to do In Pennsylvania: This is a big one.  I mentioned in my 100th post that I was thinking of using it as a “100 things to do in PA” blog but then thought better of it A) because it just seemed like a sad things to do B) because I wanted to get

My 100th Post

I’ve been thinking over the past few weeks what I should devote my 100th post to.  I kicked around “100 things to do in Pennsylvania,” but ultimately that felt a little cliché, and long (although I did start working on this for my 101st or 102nd or 103rd post).  I thought about a retrospective of everything
