Firefly Music Fest

So I have a wishlist of concerst I want to see.  Some are unrealistic (Sinatra, Queen) and some I hope to be able to check off my list sooner than later (Gaslight Anthem, John Mellancamp, The Pogues).  Number one on my concert wish list is The Killers.  Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town are two of the only albums I can listen to in their entirety (I get music ADD and need to change up styles and genres quite frequently), and I can’t listen to “Read My Mind” without thinking back fondly to Oscars, my favorite college bar. I also own and watch their “Live at Albert Hall” concert DVD frequently.

The reason I’m telling you this is that the Killers haven’t toured for a while. I was in Philly this weekend for my sister’s college graduation and her friend mentioned she was going to see The Killers at the Firefly Music Festival in Delaware.  Unfortunately I can’t go because of my prior 90’s concert extravaganza commitment, but figured I’d share the wealth to you readers.

The Firefly Music festival is located in Dover, Delaware.  I like this because all too often it seems music festivals are out west or in the south, none located within close proximity to PA.  Not only is Dover easy to get to from PA, but the festival offers busses that run to the festival daily from other, closer towns in DE, MD, and even Philly.  Check that out here. This is especially nice for those who don’t want to hotel or camp.

The festival offers camping, but I thought it looked a little expensive.  It’s $145 for four people.  I’m sure it’s a fun time, I just feel like you could find a local hotel for much cheaper.  The festival also offers art exhibits, air balloon rides (which sort of confuses me), and seperate wine and beer tasting tents.

It’s headlined by The Killers, Black Keys, and Jack White, with other artists scheduled throuhgout the day, including The Wallflowers ( I figured they’re a worthy name check due to my 90’s themed weekend).  Here’s the lineup:
